Herons Leisure Centre Supports School Attendance Rewards
Reculver C of E Primary School in Herne Bay has seen a major boost in attendance thanks to its 100 Club scheme, which rewards families for their commitment to getting children into school every day. Since launching, persistent absence has dropped from 20% to 11%, with further improvements expected this year.
To help the scheme grow, Herons Leisure Centre has joined as an official partner. The centre has already donated 40 family swim passes and 20 family skate passes, with more prizes to follow each half term. Next summer, Herons will also host a celebration party for 100 Club pupils, complete with a roller disco and inflatable fun.
Lyndsey Balmforth, Attendance and Admissions Officer at Reculver C of E Primary School, said:
“Pupil attendance is critical to ensuring children reach their full potential. Regular absence can have a significant impact on outcomes, so it’s essential to celebrate and encourage the efforts of our families. The response from our community has been fantastic and central to the success of this initiative.”
Headteacher Stella Collins added:
“We are delighted to be working with Active Life. Their support not only incentivises our children but also strengthens our ties with the local community. Together, we’re reinforcing the message that consistent attendance is key to every child’s success.”
Karen Monticelli, General Manager at Herons Leisure Centre, commented:
“We’re proud to support such an impactful scheme. It reflects our values of community engagement and promoting healthy lifestyles. By offering rewards that encourage families to be active together, we’re supporting both attendance and well-being. We’re especially pleased to extend this support to families eligible for the Holiday Activities and Food Clubs too.”
