Swim. Cycle. Run.
Give it a Tri. If you are looking for a new challenge, something to train for or simply wish to try a multidiscipline event or sea swimming then you have come to the right place. From April to August, we will be running 3 Go Tri beginners Triathlon sessions and 5 sea swimming courses. Or if you wish to jump straight in, we have our flagship event the Oysterman Triathlon and the Pier to Pier swim along with all year round training inside the centres. There is also the Active Life Triathlon club which has an open membership and a great place to share training tips and join others at events.
Go Tri
GO TRI is an initiative launched by Triathlon England to provide people with the opportunity to take part in multisport event regularly and at a minimal cost. The events are short (200m pool swim, 6km cycle and 2km run), easy to access and repeated so that individuals can see progress if they wish to do it again.
When?
We are running 3 events in 2023, starting in April and once a month until June. The dates can be found on the Timetable below.
– 29th April 2023.
– 20th May 2023.
– 24th June 2023.
How much?
The entry fee for each event is £10.00, or £6.00 if you are an Active Life member. The events are low key, therefore no finish gantry, goody bags etc. Participants will be timed and results will be sent out within a couple of days, all included in the price.
Where?
The events will start at Herons Leisure Centre. All swimming is pool based and supported by Triathlon coaches and lifeguards.
Who are the events for?
GO TRI events are for people to discover the sport and try it out. It will give you the achievement of completing a multisport event in a safe and reassuring environment. They are open to anyone over the age of 14 and who are new or have never done anything to do with Triathlons or Aquathlons before. If you have competed in a Triathlon before, these events are not suited to racing, with the bike routes only really suited to beginners.

Active Life Tri Club Training
The Active Life Triathlon Club Training is located at Herons Leisure Centre in Herne Bay. The club is now more of a virtual training group these days with people training independently and together across the Canterbury District. Many members compete under the Active Life Triathlon club banner in Kent and Regional competitions but it’s mainly having others within to train with that motivates most of the members.
To see what’s current with the club, why not take a look at the Active Life Triathlon Training Facebook group which includes a calendar of training that members do in and outside of the centres.
