The 2017 event will be the 4th Surf N Turf Aquathlon. This year the event will include 2 swim distances due to the demand for an alternative swim distance. The swim options are a 200m or 400m sea swim followed by a 5km run for either swim distance. If you are looking for a bit of a challenge then why not come and join us.

Key Information
Swim Cut Off
The sea swim course is tidal and although the swim section will take place during slack water (the time when the water is not coming in or going out) anyone in the water after 20 minutes is more likely to feel the effects of the sea more than those who complete the swim in a short time. For this reason we ask that all participants are prepared properly for the swim. If you are not confident then why not add the Tri Training Day event to your booking for just £5. We reserve the right to direct people back to the shore after 20 minutes for their own safety.
Wetsuits
A wet suit is compulsory if the water temperature is 14 degrees or below. Between 15 degrees and 22 degrees a wet suit is optional. The average temperature in September 2016 was 17 degrees. We would recommend using a wet suit in most occasions as this will assist with buoyancy. If you don’t have your own wetsuit yet, we’ll offer you a discount code to hire a wetsuit on completion of your Surf N Turf booking.

If you would like to help fundraise whilst doing the Surf N Turf. Our chosen charity partner is the Pilgrims Hospice. The Pilgrims Hospices provide specialist care to patients with life limiting illnesses and their families across east Kent. It is a charity that Active Life have been working with for a few years now. You will have the chance to donate to support those who may not have long left in the world or you could help fundraise for them. If you would like to fundraise then download their fundraising pack.
We would like to encourage participants to fundraise for all sorts of charities, so if you do. Thank you.
